An Overview of Entrepreneurial Training Programs and Services

Business Information Session and Walk-In Days

Participants meet with WBDC counselors in a group setting to present their ideas and are directed to the WBDC training program or other community service that best meets their needs.  Walk In Days provide “no appointment necessary” time to meet with business counselors at Connecticut WBDC sites.  Both programs offer counseling and a complimentary assessment.

Exploring Entrepreneurship                                                                                               

Offers aspiring business owners insight into what is needed to start a business. Participants take a critical view of their idea/vision, investigate its feasibility, and write their preliminary concept statement to begin to turn it into reality

FastTrac® New Venture™   

Power-packed weekly workshops designed for aspiring entrepreneurs. Participants take the first steps in the Business Planning process by developing their business plans and learning research skills they can apply to the workplace or any future business venture. Also, they gain a network of entrepreneurial peers, valuable mentor relationships and a library of business reference materials.

FastTrac®  Growth Venture™  

A series of comprehensive workshops designed for business owners who have been operating for a year or more with a focus on conducting an in-depth analysis of their businesses and writing individual plans to address present and future needs

Hands On Marketing Series 

The objective is to create a practical marketing plan to grow your small business. Delivers relevant guidance on how to promote your business and drive sales. Participants come away with a clear direction and a manageable plan for implementing future marketing initiatives.

One-on-One Business Counseling

Practical  hands-on guidance on critical issues facing today’s small businesses; including but not limited to the areas of marketing, finance and insurance, human resources, legal issues and taxes.  

Small Business Seminars

Pertinent seminars hosted throughout the state on topics including: QuickBooks, Public Speaking,  Constant Contact, Website Development, Entrepreneurship, Intellectual Property Series; Marketing Basics, Women Certification, Newsletter Writing, Excel and CT Certification. Seminars are conducted the classroom and via Webinars and Teleclasses.
Internet Training 

Clients work one-on-one with a WBDC counselor to learn how establish a free email account; send and receive email messages; set up  an address book, send attachments and basic online etiquette.

Membership

Promoting small businesses is part of WBDC’s mission. Not only is WBDC the leader of entrepreneurial and financial training for women in Connecticut, it is the go-to agency to promote small businesses.
